Wisconsin

The artwork, by Iris Schenke, is posted on Artists for Hillary.

So, I guess March 4 is Clinton's "firewall." Ohio and Texas are states Clinton should do well in - in theory. Ohio being filled with economically hard-hit working class voters and Texas with a large segment of Hispanics and other demographics which did well by her on Super Tuesday.

But Wisconsin is also made up of voters which should have been favorable to her - working class white voters yearning for the Clinton era. She pulled out early, probably so she could wiggle out a defense that she had to focus on March 4 and so Wisconsin doesn't really count anyway. She made no mention of Wisconsin in her speech last night. But I think she was counting on a closer win. Everybody, including myself, had been praising her organization and ground game based on her New York wins. But as Laura Flanders pointed out on the Peter B. Collins show yesterday, her organization is top down. Obama has made extensive use of volunteers in every state so that the campaign has been off and running before the paid people showed up in each state. Obama's is the first campaign to successfully run on grassroots power in decades. Howard Dean had made the last attempt, but supporters of John Kerry's campaign had to pull teeth just to get yard signs. Much is being said about Obama's money, but it's much of it has come from small donations.

And by all accounts he has an excellent ground game going in Texas, and while not quite as advanced his Ohio effort is coming together as well. And he's just opened offices in Vermont and Rhode Island.

I expect Clinton to pull out all the stops. With nothing to lose, Bill will probably go back on the attack. The Clintons have always been at their best when their backs were against the wall. Will Ohio and/or Texas (and Pennsylvania in April) be her Trenton or Waterloo? And even if she wins both, will it matter? The math suggests it's nearly impossible for Clinton to overtake Obama in pledged deligates. Will the super delegates give her the win if the elected delegates have chosen Obama? How will that play out in November?

Addendum: You say Obama, I say Osama. The media's still not getting it right. Are we in for 8 years of this?

Comments:
Re your last question:
If the super delegates go for Hillary against the overall plurality of the little Dem & Indy voters, you will see the same devisiveness that happened after Bush was "awarded" Florida in 2000 by the 5 reps on the Supreme Court. Only this time it will backlash during the Nov vote, not after.
John McBush may not look so bad by then.

So for the good of the party Hillary should pull out now.

Eric... Didn't you recently post that superdelegates were unimportant? Do you know that all but three California superdelegates have announced for Clinton? It is a problem. Politics is hardball, The Clintons could shatter the Democratic Party once again.

How did they "shatter" anything. We had 8 years of peace and prosperity. As opposed to...

"We had 8 years of peace and prosperity."

Yes, illegal bombing raids and the death of over a million Iraqi women and children, yes that's peaceful. But hey it's only "collateral damage" right?
And how about the saintly act of bombing a medicine factory in the Sudan which provided it's largest production of medicines.

Eric... Didn't you recently post that superdelegates were unimportant?

Uh, no. I don't think so.

Mresq,

If you still believe that was a "medicine factory" I've got a bridge to sell you...

Newsflash: we are being attacked by some very dangerous people and we have a right--and obligation--to defend ourselves. Examples of such attacks include Madrid, London, Paris, Tel Aviv, New York, Bali, Buenos Aires, Frankfurt, Istanbul Kabul and Bagdad. And as you should know, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Hmmm, I think Eric's argument was quite the opposite.

So what.

Clinton has to take 58% of the delegates in all the remaining states just to tie Obama. If you adjust for the states Obama will probably win, she has to take 65%. Super delegates are politicans first and loyal second. If the wind is blowing for Obama after March in Texas and Ohio, I expect there to be a major re-alinement.

Yeah, if Clinton loses either state, there will be immense pressure on her to concede.

Clinton has it locked. If you don't believe that you are watching the wrong shell in this game.

U.S. OKs payout for Sudan bombing 'mistake'

The Clinton administration will not challenge a lawsuit filed by a Saudi businessman who said the bombing last year of his pharmaceutical plant in Sudan was a "mistake" based on faulty intelligence data.

The administration also agreed to release $24 million in assets that the businessman, Saleh Idris, had deposited in U.S. banks.

The Aug. 20, 1998, cruise missile attack, which the White House claimed was in retaliation for terrorist attacks on two U.S. embassies in Africa, came three days after President Clinton's appearance before a federal grand jury investigating his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.

Hours after his grand jury testimony, Mr. Clinton made a dramatic address to the nation admitting an "inappropriate relationship" with the former White House intern.

The White House insisted at the time it bombed the plant, located near Khartoum, Sudan, because it was tied to international terrorist Osama bin Laden and was producing precursors to VX nerve gas. Sudan countered that the plant manufactured only pharmaceuticals and offered inspection tours for U.S. officials and reporters.

Facing a deadline to respond to the suit, filed Feb. 26, the Justice Department told Mr. Idris' attorneys on Monday that the administration had ordered that the freeze placed on his U.S. bank accounts be lifted immediately.

An administration official said yesterday the plant was targeted based on "physical and circumstantial evidence" and those involved were "totally confident" the information was correct. The official, who asked not to be identified, said the decision not to pursue the case was based on concerns that classified intelligence data and methods used to gather it would have been compromised in a court proceeding.

"We have a number of concerns about the actions and the background of Mr. Idris," the official said. "He has associated himself with people that I think that every American would find reprehensible. And we will continue to protect our national security."

But Mr. Idris' attorney, George Salem, said the government backed out because it could not prove its case.

"Faced with the need to answer a legal challenge to its actions freezing Mr. Idris' . . . accounts, the government chose not to make any attempt to justify its actions against Mr. Idris," he said. "Instead, today's order . . . effectively removes any suggestion that Mr. Idris has, at any time, maintained a relationship with Osama bin Laden or any terrorist group or organization."

White House spokesman James Kennedy did not return calls for comment.

In the suit, Mr. Idris said the government froze deposits he had at the Bank of America despite having no evidence to support accusations that the plant was tied to bin Laden or had produced precursors to nerve gas. The suit said the government wrongly portrayed Mr. Idris as an associate of bin Laden's and a supporter of terrorism.

Bin Laden is the exiled Saudi Arabian who has vowed a reign of terror to rid the Persian Gulf region of Americans.

"I am grateful that the United States has taken the honorable course and has corrected, in part, the serious harm that has been done to my family and our good name," Mr. Idris said in a statement, adding that while he understood the United States' desire to "wage a vigorous fight against terrorism," it had made a "mistake" in targeting his plant.

Mr. Salem, partner at the Washington law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, said the decision to bomb the plant was "based on very circumstantial evidence, all of which we have been able to refute."

He said the United States had poor intelligence from Sudan and relied on operatives from other countries, whose data was wrong.

"Fortunately, we live in a country where we have a system of justice that requires that people produce evidence when someone is accused of being a terrorist," Mr. Salem said.

"But I am concerned about the awesome power of a few individuals to make these kinds of decisions in a vacuum," he said. "Because of the unique circumstances of the White House at the time, which was under political siege, hawks were able to convince otherwise cautious people to act."

After backing down on claims that the plant produced precursors to VX nerve gas and was connected to bin Laden, Mr. Clinton's aides later said precursors were found in soil tested at the site. But Mr. Salem noted that independent experts hired to conduct chemical examinations of the soil at the plant found no trace of substances used in chemical weapons.

U.S. cruise missiles launched from Navy ships struck the Sudanese plant and also hit terrorist training camps in Afghanistan. The attacks were the most significant military retaliation for terrorism since President Reagan sent warplanes against Libya in response to the 1986 Berlin disco bombing.

In his suit, filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, Mr. Idris demanded the release of $24 million in deposits that had been frozen by the Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control. He filed a similar suit in U.S. District Court in San Francisco against the Bank of America.

With the full and unconditional release of Mr. Idris' bank accounts, Mr. Salem said both actions would be dismissed.

Two days before the Sudan attack, independent counsel Kenneth W. Starr had pressed his case against Mr. Clinton, calling Miss Lewinsky for a return grand jury appearance to testify on gifts from Mr. Clinton that later were retrieved and to further clarify specifics of what he called an inappropriate sexual relationship. Mr. Starr also was considering subpoenaing Mr. Clinton for questions he refused to answer before the grand jury.

from PDL 1999-Mar-15, from the Village Voice, by Jason Vest:

i voted for Obama...the hope he speaks of is resonating because he is tapping into some basic human desires and anxieties; i'm starting to think that HE will help me deal with my problems, very irrational but he's striking a chord...

The super delegates are already starting to move in Obama's direction. 4 of them committed to him today, including one switch from Clinton.

mresq: Who are your going to believe: Richard Clarke, who remains convinced that the factory was indeed a nerve gas facility--with direct links to both Bin Laden and the govt. of Iraq, or the honorable government of Sudan?

It doesn't look good for Hill. The newest Reuters/Zogby poll Has McCain up on Clinton 50%-38%. The same poll has Obama up on McCain 47%-40%. Ohio may not make any difference.

Is it time for,Can't Help Thinking About Tomorrow to turn into ,Yesterday?

Looks like McCain has some serious trouble brewing with the reports of his "affair" with the lady lobbyist :)

Yeah, I hope Obama leaves that one alone. It was 8 years ago, and it's really just rumors anyway.

Love that white slip-dress!

Obama's GAYSEX and COCAINE story...just hitting the press

Yeah, right.

This is a clumsy shakedown attempt.

From what I understand this guy is even willing to take a polygraph. Why would someone make this up? Isn't his reputation at stake as well? It is interesting to note the mainstream media has basically ignored it. They have chosen to ignore other truths, is this just one more?

I got it on with Sharon Stone. How come she won't discuss this with the press? What's she trying to hide?

I'll even take a lie detector test...

Larry Sinclair released a video last month on YouTube; It has gotten over 290,000 hits

Sinclair Alleges that in 1999, He and Barack Obama Shared Gay Sex and Cocaine

Sinclair has since agreed to a polygraph, challenged Obama to do the same

Sinclair has Filed a Federal Lawsuit Against Obama and Others for Harrassment and Intimidation Since the Video Came Out

The Mainstream Press has Remained Monolithically Mute

The internet is abuzz with an ongoing story where a man alleges he and Senator Barack Obama had gay sex and did illegal drugs in 1999. While the MSM is aware of this story, no one in the MSM has touched it with a ten foot pole.

Is this yet another “non-story” where the MSM, as “watchdogs,” decide not to report it? Or is the story about the MSM itself, that the MSM is withholding a potentially damaging report about a popular candidate running in the 2008 election for its own convoluted reasons?

While the MSM continues to ignore this story, the internet has taken up the slack, various blogs have reported on Sinclair and his claims of his illicit involvement with Senator Obama.

The video was posted one month ago on Youtube. Entitled “Obama’s Limo Sex and Drug Party,” the video has been seen by over 290,000 plus viewers. The man in the video, Larry Sinclair, claims he met up with the then state representative, Barack Obama, in 1999 for drugs and for sex two times, once in a limo and the other at a hotel.
A pudgy, scruffy looking guy wearing a brightly colored shirt and a baseball cap, Sinclair claims he made the video and posted it on Youtube “because of an incident involving myself and Senator Barack between November 3rd and November 8th in the Chicago, Illinois area.”

polygraph results DUE out TODAY

Friday. the first polygraph asked Mr. Sinclair on his sex claims. The second polygraph test asked Mr. Sinclair on the drug use claims. There was deception indicated in both tests.

Nutjob after all?

BTW - DID YOU HEAR?? NADER ANNOUNCED THAT HE IS RUNNING AGAIN!

I also got a blowjob from Nicole Kidman behind the Santa Rosa bus terminal. The media can't keep pretending I'm making this up!
