Obama crossover VP speculation and other campaign news

Just a couple of notes and I'll add some more later.

....

Speculation: Obama/Bloomberg? God, I hope not!

Maybe Bloomberg will be satisfied to be Obama's Lieberman. Make him ambassador to Tunisia or something.

....

On the upside, Pelosi showed some uncharacteristic spine and told Clinton's donors to chill out.
....

Meanwhile, the economic crunch is taking its toll as many of us already know. And the bribes aren't keeping the sects in check in Iraq at the moment. 100 years.

Comments:
Gore will be the nominee. Watch for it. Both campaigns know they can't win the general. They both know they will destroy the party if either one is selected. The question is who gets the VP slot. Enter Edwards? This thing is going to get much more strange. Watch for it.

That's an interesting scenario, but it's highly unlikely.

Except it is now getting major news coverage and is the speculation of several superdelegates.

There are many more stories on Google, Time is just the biggest so far.

Speaker Pelosi is a person of great courage and is not, as you state, usually "spineless".

Look for an Obama/Clinton Ticket. Or maybe the other way around but Obama/Clinton because she can’t win the nomination legitimately. He needs her so her voters don’t go to McCan’t. The Dem Party honchos (read Howard Dean and Reid) will demand that Obama get Clinton on the ticket. The Democratic Party knows they have to win this year. With Obama/Clinton they would win easily. Both these candidates are very good although each has their detractors. They would probably be able to win over the other’s supporters but maybe not and if they are together they won’t have to win over at all. They will already have them. Intellectually it is the best thing to do. Who knows if Clinton will go for it. Or Obama. This is what I think Howard Dean would push.

Gore won’t run as V.P. Been there, done that. He's a loser too. He couldn't even beat Bush. Well, maybe he did beat Bush in which case he didn't fight hard enough to keep his win. He should have made the biggest scene this country has ever seen. He had power as president of the Senate when the electoral votes were counted as well. Gore. Sheesh. He's better doing what he's doing anyway.

Bloomberg will not want to run as Vice president. No way. If he wanted to run he would run as President. He decided not to. There is nothing in it for him as Vice President.

He better have someone tasting his food!

All kidding aside, I think this sniper fire thing has probably done her in even for VP consideration.

And I also doubt that Bloomberg will be the VP. But I think he's plugging for a cabinet position. Maybe even Secretary of State.

Kennedy will probably be Chief of Staff. Richardson Secretary of the Interior. Kerry Secretary of State.

Bloomberg might take the Homeland defense czar position, whatever that's called.

Edwards would be a great VP choice.

What is your objection to Bloomberg?

Bloomberg?
You might want to check out his recent performance as Mayor of NYC with the crane building collapse.
He did a customary sound bite on it but the internal problems in NYC city government, like, code enforcement has been a problem. How does he deal with that?

We don't need a Republican on the ticket to win. They have screwed this country up enough and they would probably try to assasinate Obama if they could gain the presidency.

No objection to Bloomberg here. I just think he doesn't want the job. I also don't think he would want to be Sec. of State. Too much work and travel. He is better at delegating I think. He would probably be a good Pres. but he decided against it.
As far as Obama is concerned I think he may need Hill so that her voters don’t go over to McAint. Hill and her campaign have really poisoned this election. Obama could use a little help after she cut him down and bad mouthed him so viciously and needlessly. And the Dems just have to win this thing. They just have to. If Obama wins the nomination and Hillary is not on board 110% she will ruin her standing in the party forever. For both herself and Bill.
And there you have it.

"...the internal problems in NYC city government, like, code enforcement has been a problem. How does he deal with that?"

Send in the sheriff with a convoy and Uzis.

It will be Obama/Edwards 08. All the other potentials don't work. Richardson might, but having a Black and Mexican might just be too much for the center to handle. Edwards has yet to endorse too, a good move for him. I just don't see Clinton as VP, and it would be a very contentious relationship.

So far the objections to Bloomberg here are from the paranoid fringe. Nothing substantial at all.

He's actually very popular in NYC.

Thank God NYC is not the USA.

Maybe y'all should be watching for an Obama/Pelosi ticket--makes the most sense at this point. Clinton would never accept 2nd place and it wouldn't be a good working team.

You guys need to get your blinders off. Every time I mention Bill Richardson on this blog it seems to go over everyone's head.
Maybe that's because only good New Mexicans have any clue who he is.
Get a grip - either candidate would probably be able to take it with him on their ticket.
Otherwise call any Democrat that does make it to the White House a fool if Bill doesn't end up as Sec of State or some other face saving position for American politics.

Obama/Feinstein. Mark my words!

meltdown at the convention.

Feinstein and Bloomberg.

Besides the point because Jeb Bush will be taking us into 2012 when all Hell will brake loose. Prepare.

Beware of the Obamination!

You guys have no understanding of the true Obama. Let me tell you who his cabinet will resemble. Sec. of State: Rev. Wright; Head of Homeland Security: Louis Farakhan; National Security Advisor: Hugo Chavez; UN Ambassador: Osama Bin Ladin

Kathy Griffin / Barney Frank 08!!!

This will be a fabulous election!

Godzilla and Barney-what a team!

The question is why is Edwards holding back? He could be the decider in this campaign but he should announce now or the party will destroy itself while McCain plays statesman. Eric, you had Obama out with the Rev. Wright boondoggle, but he's doing fine. Besides starpower this guy has teflon, a huge asset as Reagan could have told us before he forgot.

I didn't exactly have him out. I was asking the question.

To be honest, I support him but I have a hard time with his being in a church with that pastor for 20 years. I see two mitigating possibilities.

1. Wright has become more bitter as he has aged, frustrated over the lack of progress; and Obama simply didn't want to "throw him under the bus" because of the history.

2. Obama doesn't really attend church all that much and really hadn't heard about the more inflammatory sermons. It's possible that he knew he needed to be associated with a church for politics, and chose the one in his neighborhood. This would mean that he's exaggerated the level of his faith, but I would rather believe that than believe that he really doesn't have any problem with those sermons.

Oh, Eric, just come clean and say you're a lawyer and a politico and therefore are quite comfortable talking out of both sides of your mouth at once. What do people expect from political pundit wannabes? Honesty? Come on now, get real. This is Humboldt County..

And he's right. Surprise!

Re Obama and Rev. Wright, the real question here is why white America is surprised that black America is upset with things. Remember the CIA cocaine importation story? I would say Hillary may have come as close to racism as she ever will when she said she would have left the black church if Rev. Wright was preacher? What colossal arrogance. But then, I'm not a Hillary fan these days.

If by that I don't reduce the world into black/white, virtue/vice, etc., then I'm guilty. Obama is a good candidate for president, with all the baggage that carries.

Eric, what on earth makes you think you don't divide the world into two primary opposing forces. You read what you post? Which consistently back liberal leftist leaning losers out to revolutionize America by stopping industrial development and big box stores from coming into the area so poor people can remain poor and pay the same damn overprices as everyone else like good citizens. What's good for local shopkeepers is good for America.

You know what that woman didn't do according to the article? LOOK FOR A NEW JOB! She just turned to the government to help. Cry me a river lady.

Everything isn't the government's problem.

Think with me for a minute... What would she do if the government wasn't there to help? She sure wouldn't be sitting on her ass applying for food stamps!

She would be scrounging up work, getting her resume out there, working extra jobs. Essentially, she would be PUMPING MONEY INTO THE ECONOMY INSTEAD OF SUCKING IT OUT OF THE TAXPAYERS!!!

You know what that woman didn't do according to the article? LOOK FOR A NEW JOB! She just turned to the government to help. Cry me a river lady.

Where in the article did it say she wasn't looking for a new job?

You know I suppose it could be interpreted either way. It didn't mention a job hunt. So she may or may not be looking for a job.

The article did leave that out, the author probably assuming that we would take for granted that she is looking. The article doesn't make much sense if she isn't.

How about Obama/Huckabee?
