Obama opposes Prop 8 - the proposed gay marriage ban amendment
Cool. But I wish he'd chosen his battles differently, maybe staying silent on this issue rather than caving on the FISA issue. The 4th Amendment is an issue of much more significance at the federal level, and one on which he could have had much more influence. I certainly hope he votes for Feingold's amendments re retroactive immunity, or promise that he will conduct criminal investigations if the remedy is limited to criminal rather than civil liability.
Boxer will join Feingold and Dodd in opposition to the bill, but it looks like a done deal.
Addendum: Keith Olberman on Obama and FISA.
Second addendum: On the Obama repudiation of Gen. Wes Clark, I guess it wasn't a repudiation (Obama says he wrote the line months ago) Clark came under fire after an interview in which he argued that being a war hero does not necessarily qualify you for president. Some veterans agree.
Clark isn't backing off either.
Here's the original interview.

I must say that if Obama does cave on FISA it shouldn't come as a big surprise, though disappointing. As I've been telling my starry-eyed Obama supporter friends for months, he is much more conservative than you think and very much a politician.
I haven't heard any word from Clinton. She hasn't exactly rushed to the front on the issue. But she's not trying to win a presidential election either, so she may have more flexibility than Obama.
Thing is, 128 House Democrats provided Obama the cover he should have relied on.

I thought todays NPR coverage, and interview, with Clark, made a fool of him.
The interviewer tried to help Clark make a case against McCain's record, as opposed to Clark's earlier statements regarding Kerry.
Clark made a fool of himself, imo, trying to make the case that Obama was the better candidate despite his support for Kerry (some years ago), which was much along the line of what he disparaged McCain for.
Kudos to NPR for that.

I think McCain will probably win. It's very discouraging, but I think Obama has just shown that he is like every other pol. I think the excitement that he might be different was encouraging many new voters, but when it's seen that he doesn't stand up for his principles, he won't be able to sustain that level of support.
What did Clark say to disparage McCain's military record? Alan Colmes actually showed some spine tonight with Ollie North and the conservatives (who always outnumber the liberals on that show) by asking them to quote precisely what Clark said that denigrated the military record.
Clark said simply that getting shot down in a plane does not necessarily qualify you for the presidency. The statement is true.
In any case with the economy sinking to its worst since the great depression I seriously doubt Clark's comment will even be on the radar screen in November.

Clark will be Obama's VP.
While this is a fumble, it's a fumble through the lens of the media, who at this point have probably caught on that Clark is favored for the VP slot. He is easily in the top 3.
The good news for Obama is that, nobody is paying any fucking attention! I watch FOX MSNSBC CNN all the time. I ain't watching it this week! The only people watching are people who don't get away from the TV. So this is a good period to fumble the ball.
Hell, McSame has been fumbling the ball every week! Give it a week, nobody will remember this. And besides, Clark was a 4 star general in charge of the most 'successful' military operation known to the western world. He won a military operation (a war!) without a single combat loss!
Neocons should go fuck themselves.

If you think that what Clark said was in any way a critique of McCain's heroism or patriotism you have a serious lack of mental capacity. He was responding to a specific statement made by the interviewer. It was not like he came out and made that statement out of the blue... but of course the media take his response out of context.
Clark has made it abundantly clear that he respects the man's military service and heroism, but his judgment is still questionable. Simple as that and very true. Wake up people.

The RAF pilots who dropped bombs on Berlin were heroes. Whether or not McCain was a hero for dropping bombs in Vietnam is up for debate. But he was a hero in the way he handled himself once he was captured.

Hel-lo....? What are you talking about?
Though I agree "the neo-cons should go fuck themselves" we do ourselves a disservice making things up when there are good arguments to be made.
Bad enough with the spelling and the making words up- sheesh!
